March 2017 - World Book Day

The children had a great day on World Book Day and made a great effort to dress up as their favourite character from a book. Congratulations to Rose from Room 8 who dressed up as the Mouse from The Gruffalo and was awarded a special prize for her homemade costume from Mrs. Frayne. The children took part in lot of activities but really enjoyed their DEAR time. The children dropped everything and read for 30 minutes. During this quiet time they chilled out on the mats and cushions on the floor and were lucky enough to enjoy some milk and cookies  :)

The children also entered a whole school story writing competition. They took part in story writing activities in the run up to World Book Day. Then they brainstormed and planned their very own story considering their characters, setting and plot. Their stories were written and redrafted and finally ready to be entered in to the competition. Every child in Room 8 was awarded a certificate for their effort. Their creativity and imaginative ideas were amazing! Well done to everyone for their hard work. A special congratulations to Frank who was awarded first place in our class and to the 3 runners up Rían, Amy and Rida.
